As we head into the final stretch of 2020, we wanted to highlight the exciting initiatives and events we have coming up for the remainder of the year!

First, we are hosting our inaugural Safe Tech Pitch event on November 18, 2020. This virtual event will feature innovators and technologies from across the nation, who will pitch their public safety and military solutions to investors, end-users, and other critical players in the first responder and defense ecosystem supporting technological development. Contestants will share a $25,000 prize pool that will be awarded to finalists selected by subject matter experts in these fields.

Safe Tech is working with our National Advisory Council members to host the event. We are also proud to announce the Safe Tech Pitch will be “Powered By” the Brazos Valley Economic Development Council. Be sure to check out our website and social media feeds for more details throughout September!

Second, you can now purchase Safe Tech swag on our website! We’re committed to giving back to those who never stop working to keep us safe and secure. As such, all Make Safe Tech donations and swag purchases go directly to testing and evaluation grants for new technologies, resiliency grants addressing Line of Duty Deaths (LODDs), and suicide prevention for first responders and armed forces personnel.

We are also open to supporting additional programs as identified by our members and stakeholders. We’re honored to have the opportunity to support these organizations, and we hope you’ll join us in this endeavor.

Last, we are excited to announce our expansion into a new facility in Bryan, Texas (eight miles from our current Fab Lab) to make room for our industry partner, Axle Box Innovations. Axle Box has launched the Additive@Scale program, an initiative that we believe will disrupt the industrial manufacturing market by providing 3D printing solutions that are stronger and more efficient than existing systems.

Additive@Scale combines Hexagon’s Absolute ArmEssentium’s High-Speed Extrusion 180 (HSE) platform, and advanced materials portfolio with traditional CNC and injection molding processes through Centex Poly Solutions. The engineering team will design, reverse engineer, and manufacture technology that meets or exceeds existing performance standards, while exponentially reducing time to part and cost of parts.

We’ll be transitioning our technology portfolio for metal, wood, and oil and gas to this new space, as well as making room for an additional Essentium HSE and two injection molding machines for Axle Box. Safe Tech members interested in working with Axle Box will be able to locate trailers and attachments at the facility and utilize an additional four acres for technology demonstrations and deliveries. Importantly, this move will free up space in our existing location for our fabrication lab and makers’ space for our members!

As you can see, we’ve had a busy 2020, and we’re just getting started. Watch the Safe Tech website for more highlights throughout the year as we work tirelessly to MAKE SAFE TECH!
