Highlands Fire Department

As you may all know, temperatures were below freezing in Texas in mid-February, quite uncharacteristically for the Lone Star State. This has resulted in many people staying home to avoid the icy roads and other potential risks.

When temperatures were dropping into the single digits on one night, the firefighters at Highlands Fire Department packed up their gear and headed to a nearby pond to practice rescue drills. Some firefighters dressed in thermal protective suits and went into the pond while others worked to “rescue” them.

Day or night, nothing will keep these firefighters from their commitment to serve their community. Training in conditions like these ensures that they will be ready to take on any type of emergency that comes their way.
